Dr Leigh Tait’s expertise is in uncovering the physical and biological processes driving changes in ecosystems through the development and application of remote-sensing technologies such as satellites, drones, and underwater vehicles. He is an acknowledged leader in the development of novel techniques for imaging and sampling underwater Antarctic environments. Leigh was the national programme leader for the Marine Biosecurity team at Earth Sciences NZ (previously NIWA) and is a current Principle Investigator in the Antarctic Science Platform (Tiaki Moana).
